About Us

Carpenter's Hands Ministry is made up of Christians from different churches and denominations who have bonded together to live out our faith in God. We emphasize family participation in missions.
We serve others by responding to disasters, being involved in partnership missions, and completing local projects.

Our Story

On December 26th, 1999, a group of 12 people left Mud Creek Baptist Church heading for Burgaw, NC in response to NC Baptist Men’s call for help in ministering to the victims of Hurricane Floyd. During this week, God gave us the vision for the ministry, the name, Carpenter's Hands Ministry, and our guiding verse, Matthew 5:16. He also put a burning desire in our hearts to minister to people's spiritual needs as well as physical. For the next year, we returned many times helping to rebuild people's homes and saw God work not only in the lives of people we were ministering to, but also in our lives to make us more like Jesus.

In the summer of 2002 Carpenter’s Hands Ministry joined North Carolina Baptist Men’s partnership with a trip to Morning Star Baptist Church in Healy, Alaska. While there we renovated the existing church and added a large multi-purpose building for church and community use. We took five other trips to Alaska helping build churches and working on individuals’ homes, doing sports clinics and vacation Bible schools for children. We have served in Vermont (5x), Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, and internationally in Honduras assisting churches, schools, colleges, homes and disaster relief centers. During many of these trips, we were able to host sports camps, vacation Bible schools, and back yard bible clubs in the communities we served.

Since those early days, the Carpenter's Hands Ministry has been blessed to respond to other hurricanes, storms of all kinds, as well as man-made disasters. We have been as far south as Haiti for an earthquake, as far north as New York City for 9/11, as far west as Baytown, Texas for a hurricane, and as far east as the coast of North Carolina for a hurricane. When we started, we had nothing but personal tools. Since then, God has blessed us with several well-filled tool trailers. Currently, we have a 7' x 12' trailer for quick response and a 8'x 22' trailer for a larger response. We thank Jesus for providing us the equipment to serve Him in this ministry! Please pray for us as we continue to respond and minister in Jesus' name.

Early on, God led us to work in our local area where we had helped to build churches, homes, numerous handicap ramps, re-roofing houses, repairing homes, and adopted Erkwood Drive for litter pickup.

Why we do what we do

1. We want to love and bring glory to our Father in Heaven, The Lord Jesus our Savior, and the Holy Spirit who indwells and empowers us. (Matthew 5:16)

2. We want to love our neighbor as Jesus taught us to. (Luke 10:25-37)

3. We believe if you are going to talk the talk, you need to walk the walk. (James 2:14-20)
